Competition entry for :icongrimgloomtale:

The assignment was to illustrate one of the brothers Grimm's stories. I happened to have bought the Penguin edition a while ago but never opened it. I skimmed the table of contents and the Crows and the Soldier caught my eye. In short, it tells the tale of a soldier who is beaten blind and robbed by his companions and then left tied to a tree. At night he overhears three crows gossiping in the branches above him and learns three secrets that help him become a wealthy and loved man. When his companions find out they go and sit under the same tree, and the crows repay them for their deeds by pecking their eyes out. Lovely.

Graphite, charcoal, acrylics and Photoshop.
Ref used for EVERYTHING.
